Meta is set to release its v65 update to Quest, promising a number of improvements ostensibly spurred by its ongoing competition with Apple Vision Pro. The company says in a recent blogpost that v65 will include updates to the spatial video playback feature introduced in v62, a new way to view panoramic stills in-headset, and improvements to how passthrough works on Quest 3.

Batman: Arkham Shadow is a brand new entry in the Arkham series, coming exclusively to Quest 3 this year. Developed by Meta-owned Camouflaj ( Iron Man VR ) and published by its Oculus Studios, Batman: Arkham Shadow marks the second VR entry in the Arkham series, following 2016's Arkham VR from Rocksteady Studios. "Evil stalks the streets. Gotham City is in danger.

The latest version of the Unity game engine—which is the basis for the vast majority of XR games made today—is now available to developers as a preview. Unity 6 Preview includes new features to make XR development easier, including ‘Composition Layers’ which can significantly increase the quality of text, UI, photos, and videos in XR. Unity 6 Preview (formerly known as 2023.3 Tech Stream) is now available for developers to experiment with.

As part of Samsung's Q1 earnings announcement, the company has outlined some of its foundry unit's key plans for the rest of the year. The company has confirmed that it remains on track to meeting its goal of starting mass production of chips on its SF3 (3 nm-class, 2nd Generation) technology in the second half of the year. Meanwhile in June, Samsung Foundry will formally unveil its SF2 (2 nm-class) process technology, which will offer a mix of performance and efficiency enhancements.

The PCI-SIG sends word over this morning that the special interest group has completed their development efforts on the group’s new PCI-Express cabling standard, CopprLink. Designed to go hand-in-hand with PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0, CopprLink defines both internal and external copper cabling for the latest PCIe standards, giving system vendors and assemblers the ability to use wires to connect devices within a system, or even whole systems.

This week, Apple, in a recent change list for its devices, confirmed that it is working on a second update for its Vision Pro spatial computing headset. Named visionOS version 1,2, the minor update is touted to improve the performance and communication between Vision Pro and iPad/iPhone devices.
