I suspect that that component is an inside job by HTC to boost the sales of Vive headsets to A-frame developers. I had similar issues when developing with Unity for Oculus in 2015, for instance. Wait, no, the purple-stars-thing has never actually happened with Unity. That’s great. That’s scary!
Eye Tracking Apart from sessions a few years ago using the HTC Vive Pro Eye and Microsoft Hololens, I didn’t have any experience with eye tracking. It has not been the only company helping XR (HTC did a lot for kickstarting enterprise VR, for instance; Valve created many technologies used by current VR headsets, etc…), but it was the company that did the most to speed up the development of XR and I think it’s important to recognize it.

I’ve used it with the HTC Vive, and you can literally stand in the middle of your creation, and hold the virtual paintbrush in your hand to paint in the air around you. There are also app stores for the Oculus Rift , the Gear VR , the HTC Vive , and on Steam for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Its XR headset will be the first major product launch since 2015, and Apple surely wants to launch it in the best way possible, with a cheering audience, on-site demos to journalists, and a well-orchestrated performance.
