Launching at an odd time (well before any full 6DOF mobile headsets are available to consumers) is AMD’s Radeon ReLive for VR feature which promises to stream SteamVR games from your PC to mobile headsets with high quality and low latency. When testing at 100 Mbps he found the resultant image sharp but too choppy for play.
HTC and Valve do this with their Vive controllers that are super low latency and extremely accurate and Oculus does this with their touch controllers and their extremely natural ergonomics. We’ll be watching the rest of CES 2017 unfold for news on this.
But rather than the AR revolution we envisioned in the wake of ARkit’s 2017 unveiling , it’s been more of a gradual climb. For all of the reasons we’ve examined , 5G will better enable “AR everywhere,” including low-latency graphics rendering, and millimeter-precision device localization.
It appears the company has taken a few design cues from Samsung HMD Odyssey, which have a similar Fresnel ridge layout. Running at 2,500 hertz with a latency of 5 milliseconds, VRee is effectively future-proof, providing a platform intended to support various types of motion suits, gloves, peripherals and headsets. The first universe is being revealed on Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.
SEE ALSO Only Select Developers Can Publish Google Daydream Apps Until 2017. But there’s good news for Cardboard apps, which Google said last year had exceeded 15 million collective downloads: these apps can majorly benefit from the enhanced performance that’s afforded by Daydream ready phones.
In a statement, T-Mobile explains that its 5G journey, which started in 2017, aims to produce the “broadest [5G] network in US history, ” enabling low-latency streaming of high-quality XR visualisations. Fresh Participants. Stops[dot]com , a Tel-Aviv-based technology firm specialising in localised AR visualisations.
The system doesn’t use Bluetooth or WiFi for that task, because variable latency could lag one frame of video or the other. You can play the video from within the app: It’s compatible with Google Cardboard and Daydream View natively, and Samsung Gear VR via a third-party plugin such as the CB Enabler.
“Major NAND flash suppliers including Samsung Electronics, Micron Technology and Toshiba have rolled out 64-layer 3D NAND flash products, said the sources. The CPU bogs down under load, resulting in frequent latency spikes up to 250ms (that’s like going around the globe twice, for reference).
GB/s write is nothing short of amazing, given that 8-16GB of GDDR5 memory deliver additional 256 GB/s of bandwidth – without introducing the additional latency caused by leaving the graphics board. For those needing ultimate performance, a combination of two 1TB Samsung 961 M.2 To have one terabyte of memory running at 4.5
Dominic Brennan from Road to VR estimates that Santa Cruz is using the same 1,440 × 1,600 displays that are also found in the Samsung Odyssey and Vive Pro headsets. So I would say that one of the most important ones — if not the most important one — is actually related to latency. When we move to a 5G network, there are some fundamental changes on the overall architecture of the mobile network, that allow us to reduce significantly the latency of the connections as well. So I know it.
