Microsoft Technical Fellow and chief inventor of HoloLens, Alex Kipman, took the stage today at Microsoft Build 2017 to show off a number of upcoming mixed reality hardware and software streaming out of the company and its partners. “Holiday 2017 is going to be phenomenal,” said Kipman.

We’re keeping an eye out for the best Windows VR headset deals during Black Friday 2017 through Cyber Monday as they come in. All the headsets but one, Samsung’s Odyssey headset, are based on the same reference design provided by Microsoft, so they’re more or less the same outside of the obvious styling differences.
While Microsoft has been full steam ahead on the augmented reality side of Windows Mixed Reality via HoloLens, the company has had very little to say in the last year about the VR side of its platform. While it may look like Microsoft has largely given up on the effort, the company tells us that it remains committed.
