Back at CES, Oculus announced that Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi would exclusively bring its own branded version of the standalone Oculus Go headset to China. The Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone headset is identical hardware to the forthcoming Oculus Go, the $200 standalone headset that Oculus announced late last year.
Kite & Lightning, the studio behind some of VR’s earliest experiences, is one of 13 developers receiving a portion of over $200,000 in ‘Unreal Dev Grants’, a program set up by Epic Games to showcase and provide financial support to projects using Unreal Engine 4. million in seed funding to expand the scope of the title.
The end for Oculus Go is nigh. The latest Oculus SDK (v19/1.51) no longer supports the company’s first true standalone VR headset. The company says in the SDK’s developer release notes that both Unity and Unreal Engine support for Oculus Go has officially been dropped.
