The 10M mark is a magic number to have a market big enough for AAA studios to enter and create amazing VR content, that in turn will attract more people to VR. Making some maths about the total revenues, VR journalists have inferred a number of sold Quests around 1–1.5M.

Matsuda himself subsequently began working in AR following the film's release, leading design teams at both LeapMotion (now Ultraleap) and Microsoft.
