South Korean newspaper The JoongAng reports Samsung is planning to announce the headset at an event in the second half of 2024, then launch it in December with a limited initial quantity of just 30,000 units. After so much time teasing it, Google has finally announced Android XR, the version of Android for XR devices, and gave hands-on demos of the headset it is building with Samsung and Qualcomm. Google hopes it to become the to-go open operating system that XR device manufacturers choose as the runtime for their headsets and glasses.
