After so much time teasing it, Google has finally announced Android XR, the version of Android for XR devices, and gave hands-on demos of the headset it is building with Samsung and Qualcomm. Google hopes it to become the to-go open operating system that XR device manufacturers choose as the runtime for their headsets and glasses.

South Korean newspaper The JoongAng reports Samsung is planning to announce the headset at an event in the second half of 2024, then launch it in December with a limited initial quantity of just 30,000 units.
