I’m pretty sure that Sony is waiting the next few months to make some moves, there’s still the Black Friday and the Christmas Holiday that have to happen, but at the moment I do not see this device as disruptive to our ecosystem.

In any case, even if you do that, you’ll still be able to play SteamVR content only through November 2026. They had some hype a few years ago, also because Magic Leap, in the beginning, hinted at the fact that it would have used them, but then they revealed themselves to be too unpractical for AR.

Then of course Sony didn’t match this prediction, and the day after the analysts were shouting that PSVR had been a disappointing failure… where actually they should have said that they sucked at market analysis and they should have gone hoeing the soil. So, Magic Leap was even cheap in comparison.

The next versions of the glasses are expected for 2026 and 2028. If the rumor is true, Meta by 2024 is going to basically release the Nreal glasses or a mix of Nreal Light and Magic Leap 2. Epic Games just got $2B from Sony and the owners of the Lego group to keep building its metaverse. Some articles on the metaverse.
