We were using something called Visa, which was a very low-level library language, very different from what Unity is right now. They get haptic feedback while they’re using the chainsaw and they understand viscerally the link between deforestation and using non-recycled paper or not recycling. I learned how to do the coding.

Touch controllers are still necessary to have an optimal VR experience because they let you feel something in your hands, they give you haptic feedback, they make you press buttons and such. From time to time, I like to look at the adoption graph of XR shown by John Riccitiello (the CEO of Unity) in 2017 , where you can see that the real acceleration of immersive technologies should start around 2022-2023. A bit like what happened with Henry ported from PC to Oculus Go by John Carmack: he used a special encoding of 5K 360video and the experience is similar to the realtime UE4 experience on PC, even if at the same time it is completely different. The good news is that the sliding battery lid issue has been solved, and the overall battery duration has been increased 4x (yikes!)
