I have been able to speak for almost one hour with Jeremy Bailenson , which is the professor at Stanford that is a legend in the VR field for his studies on interactions, psychology, and training in Virtual Reality. Or Unreal if that’s your language. His lab was even visited by Zuckerberg before he decided to acquire Oculus.
While VR communities are full of posts like “ 360videos are not VR “, 360videos are still widely used for marketing. 360 tours of houses made with 360 cameras are still not widespread and that many people still don’t know them. You have to think about this when starting up your business.
But also, beyond that, it allows a user — as we know, the full VR technology is extremely effective at doing — it allows the user to feel completely immersed in the experience, and it allows them to drive it as well, in the way that it’s built is the same as the way that you build VR video games. You mentioned Unreal Engine.
But what we proved with those is that you can have this small phone attachment and you can simply and easily capture, edit, and share photos and videos in 360 to social media without ever having to pull out the microSD card from your camera. But that would be even more so as we get eye-tracking involved. Is that correct? Alan: Minimum.

Or is this taken from like a 360video type of thing? So did you guys build this in Unreal or Unity or.? Alan: So basically, what you're saying is you can study it all you want, but virtual reality gives you the feeling of being there. Or is this taken from like a 360video type of thing? Nick: Absolutely.

You have video that you’re doing; maybe think about how 360video could enhance the experience, or bring it a step further. I have read that the case study, and I will put it in the show notes for anybody who wants to read it. Do you have white papers or case studies? That is just amazing.

The reason the company was started was because, like I said, all these use cases were so obvious, especially after being in the space for a long time, that I saw all this amazing commercial potential that was only being unrealized because the technology wasn’t good enough. It’s just been fantastic to work with these guys.

As an artist himself he said the opportunity would be unreal. Reality will provide a space to collaborate and work on AR and VR projects as more fields of study at UNR embrace the tech. VR gave this man the ability to walk, explore Burning Man and ski all from his wheelchair. Gadda said he had dreamed of traveling to Burning Man.

I tell you that a traditional cinematographer should have a really open-minded approach to understand 360videos because the first rule is to ignore the frame. Considering that normally a cinematographer spends his career studying the 16:9 frame, it is a huge difference. Then you have to study the location.
