Unreal Engine 5 may change the rules of game development. Out of nowhere, Epic Games has teased the next version of Unreal Engine, Unreal Engine 5, due to be released in 2021. It means that you can take whatever model, even with billions of polygons, and put it in your Unreal Engine project. Other relevant news.
Unity and Unreal are both incredible game engines and both require specialized training and/or teams to develop for. It feels abandoned in the overall Amazon ecosystem and the rendering technology is older and inefficient. This is scheduled for a Q4 release. As for Sumerian, it is quite complex with a long learning curve.
I will definitely keep an eye on Pico 5, because it seems a very interesting device. Yes, it is less than the 5% of Unreal, but until yesterday we only paid per seat, not both per seat and per revenue sharing. Scraper definitely shares qualities with iconic titles like System Shock, Deus Ex and BioShock.
