There’s no doubt a set of functional AR glasses that resemble regular eyewear would garner the attention of the average consumer, precisely what Vuzix is hoping for with their own propreitary AR headset showcased earlier this month at this years Consumer Electronics Expo in LasVegas.

If you had 10,000$ to spend and you asked me how to spend them, I would probably give you two options: one is going to LasVegas with me and have a crazy night of fun, and the other one is buying a Varjo XR-1, with the latter being the preferred choice. Amazon is working on their Alexa-powered glasses, but Apple, Facebook, and Google are all publicly focusing on phone-based AR for now. Smaller companies like Vuzix, however, are moving into the space. And based on Bloomberg’s description, it’s hard to say how ambitious Intel’s plans really are.
