I've been a bespectacled individual for a very long time, and back when I bought the Oculus Rift DK1 in 2013, it was arguably the only player in the game in terms of consumer level VR hardware. The gamble of scratching the lenses on such an expensive piece of hardware increases tenfold when you cram your own glasses into it.

And it is even more important because it shows Apple’s commitment towards XR : notwithstanding all the articles mocking the sales of Vision Pro, Apple is modifying its flagship hardware to create content for its XR glasses. It will collaborate with ZEISS to create a digital solution for vision tests. This is very intriguing.

Apple has also unveiled that the ZEISS Optical Inserts will be available in two types: Readers, priced at $99, and Prescription, available for $149. Taking the data of the Black Friday sales on Amazon, on a total of 132K Quest 2 sold, around 100K have been sold in the US and the other 32K in Japan and selected European countries.
