AWE day two started off with back-to-back keynotes from mixed reality display maker MagicLeap and AR commerce solution Avataar. A Look at the MagicLeap 2. MagicLeap’s Head of Product Management, Jade Meskill, presented “MagicLeap 2 and the Augmented Enterprise.”
In the interview with me, he talked about many topics, like the rumors he heard on Apple Glasses, on the Oculus Quest 2 , the America vs China war, XR entrepreneurship, Tesla, and more! As John Riccitiello (CEO of Unity) said some years ago , the VR market won’t be interesting enough until it will reach the 10 million users mark.
North America would also lead global markets for the same period. Doctors can leverage the technology to access detailed scans of patients in real-time with MagicLeap, HoloLens 2, and other headsets. Growth Factors for 2023 The XR space has seen a meteoric rise in adoption rates across industry verticals.
This could actually be quite beneficial for Meta, Microsoft, and MagicLeap. The reveal that Apple will be using Unity to bring 3D applications and games to Vision Pro was exciting. Their partnership with Unity will get them there quickly. Apple will use Unity to bring 3D applications and games to Vision Pro.
That allows devices which don’t have the compute capabilities today — lightweight AR headset devices — to have the kind of capability that a higher-end device like a Hololens 2 or MagicLeap might have, or even better in some cases. We’ve got the Hololens silo, we’ve got the MagicLeap silo.

MagicLeap. Me, wearing a MagicLeap One. The most important news has been for sure the launch of the MagicLeap One. Rear view of the MagicLeap One. Feature comparison between ARCore, ARKit and the Unity Handheld AR SDK (Image by Unity). MagicLeap.
We also have a small office and a couple of people overseas in Europe and America. Software-wise, we use Unity, Vuforia, and OpenCV. As platforms for LBAR is conceptually better Hololens or MagicLeap? MagicLeap is one of the most popular AR glasses in this moment(Image by MagicLeap).
Unity is a tool that we use a ton, and it’s cross-platform. This could be for something like a MagicLeap or an Oculus or something like that. Now, you can actually make a product that’s targeted at pretty much everyone in America right now, right? And not just America. Austin: Yeah, exactly.

In terms of who's on the flip side of that marketplace, actually-- we're about to launch our first SDK and that's-- we think of it much more at a Unity level, than necessarily as an Apple or a Google level. Certainly wasn't in North America and Europe or whatever, it was a relatively small campaign in Brazil.

Unity Technologies just went public. Now, if you look at something like game engines, for example, Unity and Unreal, they've been established for many, many years. And Unity's, I think started. Alex: I guarantee that most of Unity's investors are not going into the engine to build their own demos. Alex: Huge news.

If you show up to a– pick your favorite large industrial customer and you show up with a great computer vision SDK and Unity and you say, “listen, we can go build anything.” And they’re getting to the point where they’re retiring right here in North America, a lot of the baby boomers are leaving the workforce.

Circuit Stream’s story began in 2015 with Lou traveling around North America, connecting with developers, designers, and creators, pushing the boundaries of immersive experiences. Like, “Unity 101: here’s how to make a model.” So you mentioned travelling across North America. Alan: So how did you begin?

Most people know Xu due to his dispute with American virtual reality company MagicLeap. In June 2019, MagicLeap accused Xu of stealing AR glasses technology when he was an engineer working at the firm. However, in June 2020, a U.S. federal court threw out the case as #MagicLeap failed to make any viable claim.

This has been a pretty interesting week for me, having spoken at XR Safety Week and Stereopsia, and having published two cool articles about creating innovative SteamVR controllers and using Application SpaceWarp in Unity to almost double the framerate of your application. MagicLeap rebrands and kills the whale.
This week’s episode goes all the way back to last year’s Curiosity Camp, when Alan shared a ride with Unity Lab’s Timoni West and Vapor IO CEO Cole Crawford, recording a podcast along the way. Timoni: Director of XR in Unity Labs. Alan: Director of XR at Unity Labs, and Cole Crawford, CEO of Vapor IO. Or virtual reality?

This attitude makes me understand that Facebook won’t release an all-in-two headset with a cable like the MagicLeap One, and will always go for an untethered approach. I’m a developer, where is Unity, where is Visual Studio? Also Aria is untethered but it works together with an external box. Privacy in AR.
