I have several friends who worked in the automotive industry, and when you model a concept car — just to do the exterior modeling — it’s all done through clay, traditionally. We work the same on your iOS device as you do in your Oculus Quest. And they’re expensive bricks, because Apple didn’t train him how to use his iPhone; they trained him to use the iPad. Apple is entering the XR field, and Facebook is currently dominating the VR market. Apple headset may be very lightweight. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming Apple visor should weigh around 3–400g, which is much lighter than current headsets on the market, including the Quest 2.
This is a lot of time, but this behavior is perfectly aligned with Apple’s vision of never being the first, but always being the best , releasing a new product only when the times are ripe. This is very interesting in my opinion.
I can’t guarantee that these predictions will come out to be true (I always joke about the fact that I miss many of the predictions about Meta/Oculus), but I think they will be worth reading anyway to understand what can be the trends to look for in this new year.
