The Quest 3S will be probably marketed as the most affordable mixed reality headset on the market , so Meta may want to show that it can do Spatial Computing like the Apple Vision Pro but at less than one-tenth of the price. Thomas Van Bouwel, the creator of the upcoming game Laser Dance , took video on my phone of the entire experience, though of course you can’t see what I see. Once I got to the home menu of Orion I immediately thought of Magic Leap and HoloLens and XREAL and Tilt Five rather than Meta Quest or even the Apple Vision Pro.

By comparison similar devices like HoloLens 2 and Magic Leap tend to have hazy color inconsistency which often shows a faint rainbow haze from one side of the view to the other. You can of course offload the compute and battery into a tethered ‘puck’ design, but this significantly reduces the consumer appeal.
