At the end of the visit, I was asked if I wanted to play around with a plane simulator that was there in the demo room. But after all the updates to the passthrough quality on the Oculus Quest 3 and the impressive definition on the Apple Vision Pro, I can just say that it feels like a regular high-definition passthrough for 2024.

Unless there is an Apple drawn on it, of course. This year Razer made one of my favorite sketches, announcing the release of the Razer Skibidi, the headset that is able to translate what you say to the language of Gen Z and vice versa. Of course, it has not only been the XR space, but the whole tech ecosystem making jokes.

Mixed Reality Little showcase demo of Varjo XR-4 If people are already happy with Quest 3 cameras, imagine what they can do with 20Mpx passthrough cameras. So Varjo decided to flex in its presentation to show why the XR-4 may be more interesting for companies than the Apple Vision Pro. It makes sense.

Of course, Epic is completely against Apple and its vision of its own walled garden. And the 100 most important managers of the company just had a dedicated demo of it in Cupertino. But these numbers are insignificant if compared to usual Apple’s sales volumes. In his vision, web3 and XR are nice to have but are not fundamental.

Reports suggest that a cheaper Apple Vision headset could launch in June 2025, Razer adapted its Quest 2 head strap and facial interface for Quest 3, the SenseGlove Nova 2 added palm pressure, Holoride filed for insolvency and Ultraleap announced Hyperion. is coming to Apple Vision Pro.
