Varjo is a startup of 19 employees that is only 10 months old based in Helsinki, Finland. They retrofitted an Oculus Rift with an extra layer of lenses inside the unit. An OLED microdisplay projects an image onto a glass plate over the Oculus lenses. A video of a prototype back in Finland showed how this tech can work with AR.

The consumer market without a Quest moment The biggest difference between the Chinese VR ecosystem and the Western one is the lack of the Oculus/Facebook/Meta/Horizon/whatever Quest. The Apple Vision Pro Still, I’ve met people who are developing content from Vision Pro.

This would show the level of polish of the upcoming Apple headset.

The actions coming from the US are not much related to VR and Oculus, but mostly to the social space. This could also mean splitting the Facebook Reality Labs into a separate company (a new Oculus?), In Germany, instead, the legal action regards the mandatory Facebook login for Oculus Quest 2. Oculus Rift S now costs $300.

If you already have an Oculus Rift and Touch controllers, you can join the early open beta and dial in your parents via Facebook Messenger. Although Spaces is currently limited to only a few activities, and it’s only compatible with the Oculus Rift VR hardware, expect to see more virtual amusements as well as accessible hardware… eventually.
