Magic Leap has entered a "multi-faceted, strategic technology partnership" with Google. The companies say the partnership will combine Magic Leap's "leadership in optics and manufacturing" with Google's "technology platforms". Google was an initial investor in Magic Leap, leading a $542 million funding round back in 2014.

Magic Leap is undergoing layoffs just a few months after announcing a partnership with Google. Four years later, Magic Leap 2 is a state-of-the-art AR headset which externalizes most processing for the device into a wearable sling in the somewhat similar way Apple reduces weight on your head with Vision Pro's battery pack.
