When Bigscreen founder Darshan Shankar told us he was bringing the sequel to his Beyond SteamVR headset to GDC 2025, I booked a flight from New York to SanFrancisco and back with less than 24-hour turnaround. You can go get a Quest or Vision Pro and wear the weight of the Apple or Meta platforms, quite literally, upon your brow.

I attended the Experiential Technology Conference (XTech) in SanFrancisco this week to hear talks about creating virtual experiences that truly immerse you in another world. It reminded me of a speech by Mike Abrash , chief scientist at Oculus, speaking last fall.

Through that journey around three years ago, spent about a year in SanFrancisco, starting with our innovation outpost that we have out there, looking at emerging technologies.
