The hype for the Apple visor is very high, and everyone is waiting for it as a kid waits for Christmas. I was thinking about this topic this morning, and I want to share with you my stream of thoughts about Apple making VR mainstream, especially highlighting my doubts about it. Is now everyone already using an XR headset?

After having seen the teaser of the Quest 3 and especially the announcement of the Apple Vision Pro (about which you can read my opinion here ), I’m always more convinced that we have entered into a new phase of XR history. Google joined forces with Samsung (and Qualcomm) to release a new headset soon.

We know mostly nothing about it, and we just have the image of its front view (semi-obscured) and the info that it will be revealed in SanFrancisco at Photonics West event. Since its announcement at Google I/O earlier in the year, Daydream has been positioned as a potential usurper to the mobile VR throne currently occupied by Samsung and Oculus with Gear VR. A recent report from South Korea’s Yonhap News maintains Samsung is set to unveil a pair of XR glasses at its annual Unpacked product event, which is expected to take place sometime next month. Provided Samsung is indeed releasing a pair of smart glasses and not a full-fledged AR device, it would be in good company.
New amazing content is coming, like Assassin’s Creed VR or GTA San Andreas, and some very popular VR titles like Population One or Beat Saber, are exclusive to its standalone platform.
