You probably have heard about LeapMotion’s Project North Star , that should be able to offer people affordable augmentedreality. There are some typical questions that arise in the mind of the AR enthusiasts of the world: how is it? Notice a LeapMotion sensor installed on top of it.
I have appreciated it a lot, so I thought it could have been a cool idea to make a post for you to describe how it is and compare it with the previous LeapMotion controller. Some weeks ago, I have reviewed the new LeapMotion Gemini (v5) runtime , and I have appreciated its robustness. Are you in?
Robust to handling objects: Hyperion offers superior hand tracking while holding an object in your hand, making it perfect for mixed reality. Object tracking : Hyperion allows the LeapMotion Controller 2 camera to track AR Markers (also known as fiducial markers) enabling tracking of any object.
The larger field of view will make the virtualworld feel much more encompassing and immersive. LeapMotion North Star. Image courtesy LeapMotion. The world of AR is poised and waiting for its breakout headset.
So by that measure, Pimax over-delivered at CES 2019 with its LeapMotion bundle featuring 8K VR headset with built-in speakers, 200° FOV and optional eye tracking being developed in partnership with 7invensun. Pimax holds the Guinness World Record for the most successful crowdfunded VR project with over $4m in funding.
At LeapMotion, we envision a future where the physical and virtualworlds blend together into a single magical experience. At the heart of this experience is hand tracking, which unlocks interactions uniquely suited to virtual and augmentedreality. Let’s build it together.
LeapMotion is a company that has always been focused on human-computer interfaces. As we explore this newfound ability, it becomes increasingly clear that this power will not be limited to some ‘virtualworld’ separate from our own. The post Unveiling Project North Star appeared first on LeapMotion Blog.
When it comes to augmentedreality, the right camera alignment and scale are absolutely essential to bridging the gap between real and virtualworlds. And as developers are already experimenting with image passthrough and hybrid reality resources like Image Hands , this is more important than ever.
After I moved, I could see the virtualworld moving with a noticeable lag (the same lag that you may have using VR over Wi-fi streaming). A guy and a girl from Prague showcased in Stereopsia a simple demo where you could play the piano with a Vive with a LeapMotion mounted on. Anyway, that was bearable. VR Pianist.
In these 2 days (October, 19-20th), in Nanchang, China, it is held the first edition of the World Conference on VR Industry (WCVRI) , a very important event to talk about virtual and augmentedreality. The city is full of references to VirtualReality, and so it is like a paradise for us VR enthusiasts.
The Matrix Pro will also feature a front camera that will let people alternate between vision of the real and virtualworld. After many months of teasing them, Unity has finally launched the MARS tools, a suite of tools to build easily AugmentedReality experiences in Unity without knowing how to code. Picture 2).
We believe that augmentedreality and virtualreality are just waypoints along a spectrum of possible experiences. It starts with pure reality, which can be augmented with virtual objects that respond to real-world actions. The Image Hand can pass through virtual objects with full 3D fidelity.
Ambarish Mitra is the CEO and co-Founder of #Blippar one of the first billion dollar “AugmentedReality” Startup from India, being a pioneer, early mover brings its own pro’s & lots of Con’s. Experimental headsets are changing how we see the world, either by creating the virtualworlds of our imaginations, like the Oculus Rift, or adding ghostly layers on top of the real world, like Google Glass. At the same time, GetVu wants to bring a new level of control to augmentedreality with LeapMotion technology.
AugmentedReality in 2018. You may hate or love Magic Leap, but the fact that it has released a product is for sure a great news for all the ecosystem : if after all those investments, that startup failed, it would have had a ripple effect on all the ecosystem, making investors lose trust in augmentedreality.
There are also the underlying depth mapping systems such as Intel RealSense, Microsoft Kinect, LeapMotion, Occipital, Apple TrueDepth (with related acquisitions like PrimeSense and LinX), Nimble VR (acquired by Facebook), and Apple’s predicted move into ultra-wideband spatial sensing with the U1 chip announced as part of the iPhone 11 launch.
But with the lines between the real and virtualworlds now blurrier than ever, could we cut it even further? CAD & OBJ Viewer allows you to take a design directly from CAD into a virtualworld where you can manipulate and verify the design without wasting precious time on rapid prototyping until you are ready.”
According to the very famous market analysis company Gartner, AugmentedReality is no more an “emerging” technology, but it has graduated as a mature one. It provides a digital legend in the form of a point cloud to annotate (augment) objects and places in the physical world. Header image by LeapMotion).
In the context of motion controls, good affordance is critical, since it is necessary that users interact with objects in the expected manner. With 2D LeapMotion applications, this means adapting traditional UX design principles that condensed around the mouse and keyboard. Ergonomics. The Sensor is Always On.
Probably Ultraleap, or even when it was just LeapMotion, should have aimed to be bought by a headset manufacturer before all the major XR brands started developing hand tracking internally. The first one of them, which is rather surprising, is that its developers are not passionate about virtualworlds.
Today we're speaking with Varag Gharibjanian, the chief revenue officer at Clay AIR, a software company shaping the future of how we interact with the digital world, using natural gesture recognition. We're going to find out how Clay will bring our real hands into the virtualworld. Varag, welcome to the show, my friend.

Alan: So I keep coming back to training, but let’s really kind of take a second to unpack the native hand-tracking and finger-tracking; if you’re able to reach out, see your hands, and interact with things in virtual spaces, this is going to literally unlock unlimited potential for training. You talked about Bell Helicopters.

Virtualreality. Augmentedreality. Mixed, hyper, modulated, mediated, diminished reality. All of these flavours are really just entry points into a vast world of possibilities where we can navigate between our physical world and limitless virtual spaces.
This has enormous implications for augmentedreality and 3D reconstruction , since with the addition of a depth sensor, the iPad Pro will be able to perform these operations much better. Another great UX post by LeapMotion. The system can understand what you are seeing and give you pieces of advice in augmentedreality.
