Producing and Distributing VR in Rural Cambodia Relative to what? I don’t use virtual reality every day, like I use an iPhone or used to use a TV set. Virtual Reality and all synthetic realities give us a way to connect deeply with each other that no medium has ever done before. Is it TV sets, or home computers, or iPhones?

Most of the virtual action in the roughly 25 years between SIGGRAPH 1990 and Google Cardboard was in gaming. Sure, it was on-screen but gamers controlled the action and felt like they were part of the action. Instead of traveling to Cambodia, I began meeting with my Cambodian friends in VR. Then the pandemic happened.
