Today SteamVR is still the gold standard for what concerns PCVR tracking and many enthusiasts have Lighthouses installed in their rooms to play VR games on their Valve Index, HTC Vive, or Pimax Crystal Light. This means that for most use cases, the precision of standalone controllers is now more than enough.

Sony unveils the new controllers of the PSVR2. Despite its primary competitor, Oculus, making a major price cut to the Rift & Touch earlier this year, HTC’s Vive headset still sits at a hearty $800. This week Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17723 to users who are part of the Windows Insider Program. The HTC Vive and Vive Pro have a similar function, though it goes widely unused, likely due to the ‘tron mode’ filter which is applied by default and low resolution.
