Wearable controls and a “Master Maneuvering System” lets you pilot the T-HR3 remotely. It seems like you can’t swing a stick nowadays without hitting a VR-controlled robot. Using what Toyota refers to as a “Master Maneuvering System, operators are able to control the entirety of the T-HR3 including its head, hands, arms and feet.
Researchers based out of Taiwan’s National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University are working on a one-of-a-kind controller that uses VR technology and faux fur to simulate the sensation of snuggling a digital feline, resulting in what could easily be considered the strangest haptic device currently in development.

HTC recently said that it will host an online Vive event next week, but has only teased minimal hints about what it plans to announce. Today during the Vive Developers Conference in Beijing, HTC revealed the Vive Focus, a standalone VR headset with inside-out positional tracking. Update (11/14/17): HTC has confirmed to Road to VR that the company is cancelling plans to bring a Daydream-based version of the Vive Focus headset to Western markets, including the US and Europe.

Virtual reality is already being used on the ground to help prepare astronauts for the rigors of space, although now HTC says it’s sending its standalone VR headset Vive Focus 3 to the International Space Station (ISS) to help support the mental health of astronauts during their mission.

HTC today announced more specifics around Vive Focus, the company’s standalone mobile VR headset for China-based customers. As reported by YiVian , HTC is putting out two versions: Electric Blue for ¥4,299 (~$650) and Almond White for ¥3,999 ($600). Both 6 DoF headsets will arrive with a 3 DoF Bluetooth controller.
