an ARM chips can be installed on IoT sensors that communicate to a server where an NVIDIA card is used to perform machine learning on the data). You can finally buy the LeapMotion v2 accessory. The time for us XR developers to buy a LeapMotion 2 has finally come. What will this mean in the long run for NVIDIA?
Traditionally, leading tech vendors have invested in distributed network infrastructure, but many of them (such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft) are adapting to a new paradigm to support localized, persistent, collaborative, shared, multiuser interactions. Security — establishing hierarchies for data capture and protection.
We also tested combining the HoloLens with the LeapMotion because of the more accurate hand tracking. Although the LeapMotion controller gives the player the ability to have freedom of interaction with their hands, we had to attach the LeapMotion controller to the HoloLens.
They are dubbed “Meta Touch Plus”, and they work (as I predicted last week) by fusing the data of IMU, IR LED tracking, and hand tracking together. I’m just wondering how Microsoft is still supporting the project and if there will be a MRTK 4. Its controllers have no ring and no onboard cameras.
Microsoft is taking a holistic approach with Windows Mixed Reality being baked into Windows 10, meaning that developers can create a single application that can run on the HoloLens, on one of their partner VR headsets, on a Surface tablet, or as a desktop app. LISTEN TO THE VOICES OF VR PODCAST.
It is said to be capable of processing the tracking data in the headset itself from communication with a SteamVR base station, and is pitched as being able to work with both Daydream and Cardboard content, as well as PC SteamVR content “via a tethered machine.”
All the other major companies (Samsung, Huawei, etc…) are working on AR and Apple for sure can’t stop experimenting with if it doesn’t want to miss the next communication platform as Microsoft did with Windows Phone. Microsoft has released this week a new video showing how the game will work.
The incumbents have an advantage with existing mapping such as Google Maps, Earth, Street View, Apple Maps and the Indoor Maps Program, and Bing Maps but there are also significant geographic data players such as Foursquare and OpenStreetMap. Some recent acquisitions include AltspaceVR (Microsoft), and Escher (Niantic).
VR-2 Pro adds an integrated LeapMotion and a 10m cable. This week, HTC has confirmed Road To VR that the Cosmos doesn’t transmit any data of the positional tracking outside your PC and the data is also encrypted to prevent hackers to access them. More info (Article on Road To VR) More info (Article on Upload VR).
The Mixed Reality Toolkit (MRTK) by Microsoft is an open-source toolkit that has been around since the HoloLens was first released in 2016. Microsoft-driven MRTK-Unity is a suite of components and capabilities used to speed the creation of cross-platform MR applications in Unity. Understanding the MRTK-Unity Toolkit for MR Developers.
Above: David Holz, founder of LeapMotion, shows off hand-tracking in VR. The headset used sensors to detect my fingers, using software from LeapMotion. Gazzaley’s brainwave sensors would capture data on the part of the brain that was stimulated. He said the brain doesn’t see the raw data of reality.
Physical space allows users to spatially arrange objects in order to make sense of data and its meaning, thereby revealing relationships and making connections. As participants add data to the wall, sticky notes appear in thematic groupings spatially across the board. Up close, we can see the individual interrelated data points.
When I tried the Looxid Labs add-on for the Vive I’ve found it interesting, but its data were pretty noisy, and some community members defined it as “another random numbers generator”. UltraLeap (formerly known as LeapMotion) has just launched the 5th iteration of its hands-tracking runtime, called Gemini.
Alan: With Facebook now working on AR, and you've got Magic Leap, and Microsoft's Hololens. And, you know, Magic Leap-- people are going to expect when they walk around holograms, they stay put. But things like midair haptics, with the Ultra Haptics or the Ultra Leap now. Varag: Yeah. Super exciting stuff.

Basically, the Quest is using its built-in depth sensors and cameras to track each knuckle and the surface of your hands and then uses that data to mirror those movements in your VR environment. The technology approximates the shape of your hand and creates a set of 3D points to accurately represent your hand and finger movement in VR.

Matsuda himself subsequently began working in AR following the film's release, leading design teams at both LeapMotion (now Ultraleap) and Microsoft. For certain implementations, Psychic is using geographic data provided by the Japanese government for development uses cases like this.
Acer, NVIDIA, Valve, Ubisoft, LeapMotion and many others joined the ecosystem. Turning Data into Information Trends A stream of XYZ hand coordinates is useful. Smart software can turn data into higher-level information. Analyzing real-time data gets us closer to understanding emotion and intent.
Billion & mind you i haven't added the overall population of #asia.Ignore us at your own risk #facebook #microsoft & the curators of those lists. He has demonstrated even more original (and less scary) ideas for AR interaction while directing UX design at LeapMotion. 25- Pankaj Raut. 29- Clyde Dsouza. 50- Peter Chou.
The technology behind it is pretty cool: you have some cameras (I guess RGB + depth) that scan yourself live in 3D , compress the data with a special Google algorithm, send it to the other peer, where it gets decompressed and reconstructed in real-time on a light field display. Microsoft confirms (again) it wants to build consumer HoloLens.
