Authored by MagicLeap researchers Daniel DeTone, Tomasz Malisiewicz, and Andrew Rabinovich, the paper describes a tracking system powered by two deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs)—a type of artificial ‘brain’ used for image processing. ” image courtesy MagicLeap.
But it is very interesting , because it will touch a lot of hot topics, like: Data visualization in XR; MagicLeap; Being a woman working in XR; How is XR in Asia. Today the interview will cover the first two topics: dataviz in VR thanks to BadVR solution and MagicLeap. and many other interesting stuff!
It started with big data , and I started blogging about that at the end of 2015 basically because I couldn’t find anyone to talk about it with (laughs). In early 2016, I run into a paper from a professor at Caltech that was talking about data visualization in virtual reality and that blew my mind.
If we pair it to the fact that this device is connected to a PS5, which is a quite powerful machine, we see that the whole system is truly the next-generation VR that PlayStation users (and not only them) were waiting for. An analysis of the job postings of Meta shows that the company is trying to add cellular data to its headsets.
Julia Winter // Alchemie (Troy, MI) – immersive chemistry curriculum learning tools for higher education, providing real-time assessment via machinelearning and data analytics to bridge the knowledge and communications gap between students and professors.
Becoming a mixed reality expert has a steep learning curve. To make this happen, Microsoft used artificial intelligence and machinelearning. Researchers fed computers data on how users move their hands and eyes while interacting with the world. However, the biggest competition for HoloLens remains MagicLeap.
It states, among other things, that “The company used its data advantage to create superior market intelligence to identify nascent competitive threats and then acquire, copy, or kill these firms”. You activate the machine, pay for its usage and you can have cloud rendering. Learn more. Learn more. Learn more.
Stake in MagicLeap Riyadh also acquired a majority stake in MagicLeap, allowing the firm a seat on the board of directors. The news comes after the MagicLeap 2 headset received IEC 60601 medical certification for surgeons and other healthcare professionals.
Data decoding: Spatial computing solutions need to understand our actions and decode the instructions we give through gestures, speech, and more. This requires the use of artificial intelligence and machinelearning algorithms. Learn about the potential of spatial computing and define your use cases.
Until recently, Brian Kane has been highlighting more experiential demos - like one that puts a porthole to the ocean in your living room - to highlight the power of the MagicLeap, and of spatial computing in general. MagicLeap is one of these MagicLeap devices, you put it on, and your whole world is spatial computing.
Like MagicLeap’s Magicverse , this is Facebook’s version of an AR cloud. According to its concept video (grain of salt), it will have persistent, spatially-anchored data, uncovered through AR devices and permissioned access. We’re working on deepening the technology to bridge the physical and digital divides.”
He played a key role in the early development of MagicLeap, an augmented reality company that just won best of show at the industry’s biggest gathering, AWE (for Augmented World Expo). One that learns faster than anything most humans could imagine. Is your happiness and income coming from you pushing a button on a machine?
Or even worse, fly that machine to a trade show. XR has a key role given capacity for visual learning. But it’s also about structural transformation to customize curriculum around life goals versus traditional rote learning. Why aren’t we using the same technology to give kids better education and better learning?”
In the industrial landscape, WEF sees incredible opportunities in the development of “industrial metaverses”, designed to strengthen the interactions between humans and the machines they work with. However, WEF does not an industrial metaverse and has a lot of challenges to address, from customer experience to data management.
Tim Cook has warned the industry about “the data industrial complex” and advocated for privacy as a human right. ” The industry has made data-capture mistakes while building today’s tech platforms, and it shouldn’t repeat them. It’s the computer vision-generated, machine-readable 3D map of the world.
Will this Convergence lead us into the futuristic dystopia of our nightmares — the one where we are jacked into a simulated reality, a siloed and centralized network where we are constantly under surveillance by dark forces operating in the shadows, all the while being mined for our data like a natural resource? It enables — The Spatial Web.
Additionally, Microsoft partnered with MagicLeap and Qualcomm this year to revamp Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Toolkit 3 ( MRTK3 ) for developers and enterprise partners – the SDK behind many HoloLens applications. Delving into operation nuances for personalized, in-depth learning becomes easier.
Zuckerberg has been under fire for many months as has Facebook about the data mining activities of the company, and to some extent the new branding and launch of Meta was seen as shadowing the allegations the company is currently facing in the courts. At this moment in time our ability to consume these large amounts of data is not optimal.
HTC advertises it as a headset for relaxation and productivity because it wants to position it as a different product than a gaming machine like Oculus Quest 2. Image by MagicLeap). MagicLeap 2 has been teased. Chipset : Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 Display Type : LCD Display resolution : 3.2K Other relevant news.
To answer all this I spoke with data scientists, entrepreneurs, users, developers, engineers, UX specialists. Those are all exciting developments, but if you are following closely you learned to be reasonably skeptical. Our communication with machines are mediated by characters and gestures that leave less space for ambiguity.
Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Toolkit 3 to Debut in September This week, Microsoft partnered with MagicLeap and Qualcomm, which sees the firms take equal stakes in scaling Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Toolkit 3 ( MRTK3 ) for developers and enterprise partners. MagicLeap hopes to drive the scalability and flexibility of MRTK3.
In the midst of an awe-inspiring era dominated by Artificial Intelligence and MachineLearning, a new technological frontier is emerging on the horizon. Companies like MagicLeap and Microsoft HoloLens pushed the boundaries of MR technology, enabling users to interact with digital objects in real-world settings.
How did you get involved in VR and learning? It is transforming education by experiential learning. And again, that is to help students learn faster, retain information longer, and make better decisions. The biggest one is a dissemination machine to up to 7-10,000 users. Alan: I’m really, really excited.

I just spent an hour talking with a computer vision engineer at MagicLeap about how computers will “see” and “process” our world. Same for our learning. Did he learn anything about using augmented reality or artificial intelligence there? They will help me learn even faster. Blew my mind.
Many products showcased at the conference included flagship releases of VR headsets and solutions such as the Meta Quest Pro, MagicLeap 2, Lenovo ThinkReality A3, and AT&T’s Volumetric Video Photo Booth, among many others. This avoided fully redesigning content and combining old and new data. Oberon Technologies.
