Location-based games are already popular, with over a billion downloads of Pokemon Go in the three years since it launched, and over 20B kilometers walked playing the game. The World Map in this world therefore isn’t a 2D street map like we have with Google Maps or Open Street Map, nor is it a 3D map with terrain and building volumes.

This is because Leap Motion has announced its v4 version of the tracking runtime and with it three demos to showcase the new tracking functionalities: Cat Explorer, Particles, and Paint. Cat Explorer is an educational app made to show you all the anatomy of a cat and it obviously employs Leap Motion as the only medium of interaction.

This is also an answer to Lenovo Mirage Solo, that lets you directly install apps from Google Play. This resembles a lot a feature that Google was researching and that was shown by Road To VR… so it seems that sooner or later all 3 DOF controllers will become 6 DOF ones. it doesn’t work. Some months ago, we all read that letter where Zuckerberg claimed wanting to get complete control of the hardware and software stack so that Facebook shouldn’t depend on external companies, like Google or Apple for the SO, or phone manufacturers for the hardware. I suggest you give it a read. Mobile AR apps are now very popular (maybe).
