Recently, fresh reports from the international mining industry have highlighted how IGO exploration site workers will soon be able to leverage VR visualisations to explore location-specific subsurface and promote inter-departmental collaboration. IGO is creating rich digital twins based on subsurface geophysical and geological 3D data replicating the firm’s Nova mine in Western Australia.

The adapter to use PSVR 2 as a PC VR headset ships August 7. The PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter will be available from PlayStation direct and "select retailers", priced at $60 / €60 / £50. The adapter takes in the headset's single USB-C cable on one side. On the other side is a fixed USB-A cable for your PC, a DisplayPort port for your graphics card, and a third port that is likely for power from a socket.

A public CPU benchmark result suggests Pico 4S will have the same chipset as Meta Quest 3, but paired with more RAM. The Geekbench result , brought to our attention by VR enthusiast Luna , shows a headset codenamed Pico A9210 with two 2.05 GHz cores and four 2.36 GHz cores. This is exactly what shows up for Quest 3 on Geekbench too. The scores are also very similar between the headsets, with Quest 3 having 20% higher single-core performance and 5% higher multli-core performance.

Meta is gearing up for Meta Connect 2024 on September 25 and 26 for its next set of major updates in VR and AR technology. The event has been held late in each calendar year since 2014, first as Oculus Connect , then as Facebook Connect , and since 2022 as Meta Connect. Riven's upcoming remake brings the Myst sequel to Quest and PC VR in three weeks. We've known for several months that Cyan Worlds is remaking Riven , the 1997 narrative-driven puzzle game, promising "new puzzles, expanded storylines," and updated visuals in Unreal Engine 5. Following 2020's similar Myst remake, the studio confirmed its launching for Quest, PC VR and flatscreen platforms later this month.
