The PTC build of Quest v71 includes a passthrough cutout for any keyboard the headset sees while you're in your virtual home. What Is the Public Test Channel (PTC)? The Public Test Channel (PTC) is Meta Quest's beta release channel. If you opt in, your headset receives a pre-release build of each Quest system software, now technically called Horizon OS , version.

Shiftall has launched pre-orders for its newly unveiled MeganeX superlight 8K, a slim and light, high-resolution OLED PC VR headset tracked by SteamVR base stations. While Panasonic sold off its XR hardware startup Shiftall earlier this year, the companies held a joint press conference in Tokyo yesterday to announce MeganeX superlight 8K, which is slated to start shipping between February and March 2025.

Meta's CTO confirmed to The Verge earlier reporting about two 2027 headsets, one canceled and the other being worked on. The reporting in question came from The Information back in August. The outlet first reported that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and CTO Andrew Bosworth canceled La Jolla, the high-end headset they had planned for 2027 that likely would have been a Quest Pro 2.

Kluge Interactive, the studio behind hit VR rhythm game Synth Riders (2019), announced its upcoming VR fighting game, FINAL FURY , will be featured at Steam Next Fest on October 14th, which of course means a playable demo. Final Fury is a fast-paced combat game that puts you in the arena for some arcade-style fighting—not unlike Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat —but with some very physical VR gameplay.

Meta has revived its VR Animation Player (2019) with the new release of Theater Elsewhere, a fresh iteration of the free animation player app that allows users to experience immersive, hand-painted worlds created with in VR art app Quill by Smoothstep (2021). Meta says the newly revamped Theater Elsewhere app includes a new user interface for easier navigation, faster performance, and enhanced controls, designed to offer a seamless user experience.

Magnopus, the veteran XR studio behind Mission: ISS (2017) , launched Alo Moves XR, a new mixed reality fitness app for Quest that uses volumetric 3D captures to deliver classes from top fitness gurus in yoga, Pilates, and mindfulness. Announced earlier this year, the Quest-exclusive Alo Moves XR app includes 32 classes out of the gate, and plans to add four to five new yoga and Pilates classes monthly, along with weekly meditation sessions.

Shiftall opened preorders for a new PC VR headset, after failing to ship the previous two MeganeX headsets it announced. Shiftall was formerly a subsidiary of Panasonic, but back in January Panasonic sold Shiftall off to another Japanese company, Creek & River Co. Shiftall says it's still working with Panasonic, though, just not as a subsidiary anymore.
