Phasmophobia(2020) is one of the scariest PC VR-supported games, and now developers Kinetic Games announced a release date for PSVR 2. Phasmophobia is coming to PS5, PSVR 2, and Xbox consoles on October 29th, bringing its four-player online co-op psychological horror along with cross-platform play. Qualcomm has canceled its Snapdragon X Elite development kit, promising to refund those customers who pre-ordered it. The dev kit was due to ship in June but pre-ordering has been available since May this year, various sources have reported. The company did not believe that the product met its “usual standards of excellence”, according to an email sent by Arrow Electronics, an authorised distributor and partner of Qualcomm.

Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth shared images from a recent visit to the company's research labs. This week, the ever-growing XR healthcare market had another success story : at the Institute for Neurological Sciences in Glasgow, surgeons leveraged mixed reality technology to assist with spinal surgery. Mohamed Abdelsadg, a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Complex Spine Surgeon at the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde , led the surgery, which marked the first MR spinal surgery in the UK and the third in the world.

Zander Dejah describes one of the Star Wars VR games he worked on as a high fidelity "walking simulator". And so, as he started working on prototypes, he aimed for something completely different. He calls it "LO-KILL-MOTION". 0:00 / 1:18 1× Vendetta Forever made a splash when the demo appeared in August. Developed by Dejah's Meatspace Interactive, this frenetic puzzle shooter only lets you move by teleporting to enemies you've killed, taking their weapons in the process.

I was asked recently for my thoughts on Meta’s Orion AR glasses, specifically whether or not such glasses stand a chance of becoming as big as (or replacing) the smartphones in the future. I was asked for my thoughts recently for a Lifewire article about Meta’s Orion AR glasses and the future they may or may not point at. Only a small snippet of my overall response was used, and in a way that supported the article’s (reasonably) skeptical take on the future of AR glasses.
