IO Interactive and UK-based studio XR Games announced they’re bringing a new version of stealth-action game Hitman 3 exclusively to Meta Quest 3 this summer. Hitman 3 came along with VR support for the original PSVR at launch in 2021, later bringing Agent 47’s most recent exploits to PC VR headsets with the Windows version a few months later.

Clackamas Fire District has ploughed $50K into a VR training programme for its firefighters and paramedics. The money went into purchasing virtual reality (VR) software created by the Australian company EmergiSim, with headsets costing much less by comparison that are available to buy from Amazon for $199. The Quest v66 update "significantly" reduces Quest 3's passthrough distortion and warping, according to Meta. The v66 update also brings an experimental option to use wrist-mounted menu buttons instead of the pinch gestures when using hand tracking, background audio and media controls, the ability to hide apps in your library, and a new sleep mode. As always, keep in mind that Quest system software updates "roll out" gradually, so it may take a few days or even more than a week for your headset

The original Quest headset, launched in 2019, has been on its way out for quite some time. Now it’s getting a final farewell from Beat Saber , as the game’s new OST 7 music pack is the last that will reach the headset. Beat Saber’s newest free music pack, OST 7, is available now on all platforms (though temporarily delayed on PS4).

Meta's next headset is Quest 3S. Here's everything we've heard about Quest 3S, including how it likely compares to Quest 3 and Quest 2. There's been strong evidence over the past 15 months that Meta is preparing to release a cheaper alternative to Quest 3 to replace Quest 2 in its lineup. The S here is being used in the same sense as Xbox Series S, to mean a cheaper model, not in the same sense Apple used to use for iPhones.

Palmer Luckey says he will announce that he's working on a new headset at AWE 2024, which is taking place June 18-20. It comes as Luckey's new company ModRetro just announced and opened preorders for Chromatic , a $200 handheld that can play Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges on a display with the same resolution and colors as the original consoles for a pixel-perfect and color-accurate experience.

You can watch Netflix in the web browser on Quest headsets "in the coming days". Previously, the Quest browser showed incompatibility with Netflix when trying to play a movie or TV show from the service. Since 2019, Netflix offered the poorly-reviewed native VR app on the Quest Store instead. The app lacks downloads support and is capped at 480p. Schell Games is one of the most exciting studios working in the VR space right now. With a diverse portfolio of hits like Among Us VR and I Expect You To Die, I was so excited to see what kind of creative spin they would bring to the horror genre. I'm happy to say that Schell followed through on its reputation with Silent Slayer: Vault of the Vampire with tense and engaging gameplay, even if it can be a bit taxing.

During the Intel keynote hosted by CEO Pat Gelsinger, he gave the world a glimpse into the Intel Client roadmap until 2026. Meteor Lake launched last year on that roadmap, and Lunar Lake, which we dived into yesterday as Intel disclosed technical details about the upcoming platform. Pat also presented a wafer on stage, Panther Lake, and he gave some additional information about Intel's forthcoming Panther Lake platform, which is expected in 2025.

HTC is offering all Vive XR Elite owners a free Deluxe Pack with four accessories that upgrade the experience of using the headset. Vive XR Elite is HTC's newest standalone headset, launched last year at $1100, and its first targeted to consumers instead of just businesses. XR Elite features the same kind of small early pancake lenses as 2021's Vive Flow, and uses the original generation Snapdragon XR2 chip also used in Quest 2.
