Serial modder Luke Ross has released a new VR mod for the PC version of Star Wars Outlaws (2024). Ross has been keeping up with the latest game releases it seems. Released only on August 30th, you can now play Star Wars Outlaws in VR. Granted, the 6DOF mod uses gamepad and not VR controllers as such, and is probably best played in third-person, although you can adjust the camera to give some pretty great first-person views.
Sandbox VR , the location-based VR attraction, announced it’s planning to open up 280 new locations within the next four years. Having recently opened its 50th store, located on the Gold Coast in Australia, projections of rapid growth are thanks to the company’s franchising program, kicked off in 2019. The company notes that franchising has been “instrumental in making Sandbox VR the fastest growing location-based VR startup globally, and this US momentum signals continued rapid grow
The Quest v69 update brings multitasking improvements, an adaptive backlight option, spatial audio for windows, and a range of other improvements to Meta's mixed reality platform. As with all Quest updates, v69 will "roll out" gradually, so it may take a few days or even weeks for your headset to get the v69 update. This will likely be Meta's last system software update before its Connect conference, set for September 25-26 , where the company is expected to launch a cheaper version of Quest 3 a

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.
When Apple launched the Vison Pro, it didn’t just introduce the world to a new era of spatial computing and mixed reality experiences. It also launched an exciting new spatial operating system: VisionOS. Now the solution is getting a significant update with “Apple Vision Pro OS 2”. VisionOS 2 , as it is officially named by Apple, was confirmed to be arriving later this fall at Apple’s WWDC 2024 keynote.
Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm has announced it is designing AR smart glasses with Samsung and Google that can be powered by your smartphone. The partnership itself is not new. Qualcomm partnered with Google and Samsung at the beginning of the year to strengthen XR use cases for headset and smart glasses with the help of its XR2+ Gen 2 chipset. Amon shared the plans with the US business news channel CNBC, which observed that Qualcomm was taking a different approach to Apple, a major competitor

For a while, rumors have been circulating about the arrival of the “PICO 4 Ultra” headset- a new mixed-reality device offering incremental improvements to the previous PICO 4. When the Bytedance-owned XR company introduced the PICO 4, it was meant to compete with the popular Meta Quest 2. Like Meta’s device, Pico’s headset supported hands-free and wired play modes.
The synergy between body and music is key to a VR rhythm game’s success. Starwave may have cracked the code. When I recently previewed Starwave at Bitsummit , I noted that although I loved what I played during my brief session, the challenge it faces in attaining success is stark. This game must stand out in a genre where Beat Saber is the undisputed king, and few games stand a chance of recognition behind its shadow.
Can the Meta Quest 3 track location, and how do you manage the tracking features on the device? If you’ve already experimented with the Quest 3, or read our recent review , you’ll know it comes with a bunch of handy “tracking” capabilities. The device doesn’t offer eye tracking (unlike competitors, such as the Apple Vision Pro), but it does offer dual headset and controller tracking to help deliver a more immersive experience.
Shogun’s Empire looks like Shogun: Total War with turn-based combat, and the VR strategy game is out now on Quest. Created by Home Net Games, best known for the Warplanes series , Shogun's Empire is a VR adaptation of the 2019 flatscreen game Shogun's Empire: Hex Commander. Featuring Japanese voice acting, seasonal cycles and visuals inspired by historical paintings, Shogun's Empire promises "dozens" of campaigns based around 15 historical clans, seeing you conquer provinces and strengthen your
With a rapidly changing economy, Avangrid Renewables looked to virtual reality to develop a standardized form of immersive training in order to onboard and upskill technicians faster than ever before.
September has arrived, and the month is commonly an important one for the XR industry. Meta Connect 2024 is due to take place later in the year. Leading up to this year’s event, major XR device vendors such as HTC VIVE, PICO, Sony, and others are leveraging what is being perceived as an increasing level of hype stemming from Mark Zuckberg’s upcoming showcase.
Sky Runner is the new name for a game which caught our eye with its masterful use of the Quest 3's spatial mesh as a gameplay element. We covered Bomber Drone's initial App Lab release and its notable use of room-mapping as a gameplay element last month and the developers have been quickly shaping the title with new updates. The Flat2VR-backed game has been re-branded to Sky Runner and brings with it new features including a track editor.
Lucas Martell is nearly ready to release his iPhone app. Mini golfers in Meta, Sony, Valve, and Pico, will soon be joined in VR by iPhone players logging in from Martell's Walkabout Mini Golf - Pocket Edition. The fully featured Walkabout iPhone app is completing a second round of open testing this month as it moves close to full release. Pocket Edition has been in development for around five years now, all the way back before the pandemic in 2019, and long before Walkabout became one of the bes
The first officially licensed Premier League VR game is coming later this year, with Premier League Player arriving exclusively on Quest. Considering developer Rezzil specializes in sports VR and XR games, it's no surprise that the studio partnered with England's Premier League after developing Rezzil Player , an athlete training game that is already available on Meta Quest, Pico, PC VR, and PSVR 2.
Remote meetings are here to stay - and many are BORING. If you are trying to engage your learners (or any audience), compelling content is critical. But trying to create stimulating content with the same tools you’ve always had is hard, right? Thankfully, wrong! Terrific tools in PowerPoint along with visual assets help you create the kind of dynamic content you need to capture your remote audience’s attention, with functions that allow for interactive sequences and navigation.
Puzzle Sculpt from Schell Games leaves the minesweeping of Windows desktops behind and exchanges the idea for spatial puzzling on Apple Vision Pro. The object of Puzzle Sculpt is to carve out a shape from a floating block using logic and maybe a bit of luck. The app is accessible only with passthrough views on and it doesn't allow multitasking, at least not at the time of writing, so Puzzle Sculpt expects your focus here and there's a quick tutorial to walk you through the game's mechanics.
Gamescom 2024 showcased the VR community's strength when unified, and here's our full round-up for Europe's largest gaming event. Last month marked my second trip to Gamescom for UploadVR, and the first trip as our sole representative. To say I had a busy show would be an understatement but thanks to the assistance of two brilliant freelance contributors - Issy van der Velde and Sarah Thwaites , I wasn't alone.
