Samsung and Google announced in early 2023 that, along with Qualcomm, they’d be releasing an “XR platform” based on Android , which could also see the release of a high-end mixed reality headset. While we still haven’t heard exactly what that XR partnership will entail, a new report from The Information maintains Samsung and Google are also working on smartglasses positioned to potentially compete with Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.

Smartmelon Games and Fast Travel Games announced its multiplayer VR rhythm title, Band Space , is set to launch on Quest and PC VR this month, bringing some very Rock Band -inspired gameplay to VR. Come October 24th, Smartmelon is launching Band Space with both single and multiplayer support for up to four players, letting you jam out with motion controllers on the guitar, drums, bass and keyboard.

Sightful has canceled Spacetop G1 and will refund all preorder deposits. Spacetop G1 was set to be a screenless laptop with built-in Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR glasses, priced at $1900. It would have been powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, running Sightful's proprietary Spacetop OS operating system. Sightful has emailed everyone who preordered Spacetop G1 to offer them a refund of their $100 deposit, and the company will no longer be shipping hardware at all, as it first confirmed to CN

Immersed founder Renji Bijoy met me in a Starbucks in Palo Alto immediately after Meta Connect to offer UploadVR a second impression of the Visor headset they're developing. The demo went better than the first, but if you read David Heaney's writeup you'd know that isn't a high bar to overcome. Bijoy said this demo ran at 60 frames per second and, in headset, I watched the rendering struggle to draw a scene as I turned my head right to left, and I saw a virtual desktop that wasn't very readable.

BMW Group has added new features to it BMW M Mixed Reality driving experience. The German car and motorcycle manufacturer’s VR/MR technology connects driver, vehicle, and virtual worlds in a ‘unique’ 3D interaction in which the vehicle becomes a controller. New features include a multiplayer approach, a new world, individualised worlds for partners and events, and a single player offer.

Play for Dream teased its headset's low latency passthrough by having a racing driver weave between cones while wearing it. What Is Play For Dream MR? Play For Dream is a Chinese headset company that was formerly known as YVR. Its latest headset, Play For Dream MR, was announced back in June as coming to China and some other Asian countries, and last month it launched a Kickstarter to bring it to the west too.
