Quest 3 is now used on Steam more than Valve Index, and we have the first sign of how many people are using PlayStation VR2 on PC. This data comes from the Steam Hardware & Software Survey , which is offered to a random sample of Steam’s user base each month. If you accept, it uploads a list of your PC specs and peripherals to Valve, as well as any headset used on SteamVR in the past month.

A new Meta headset, highly likely to be the upcoming Quest 3S, just got FCC certification. The FCC is the US regulatory agency with responsibility over wireless frequency use. Its approval is necessary to sell a device with wireless capabilities in the US market. 91mobiles first spotted the filing, which comes from the same Meta-owned registrar as previous Quest hardware.

Into Black looks like a VR take on Deep Rock Galactic, bringing a new co-op campaign adventure to Quest next month. Created by The Binary Mill ( Mini Motor Racing X , Gun Club VR ), Into Black features a full voice-acted campaign with over 20 levels that can be played alone or with up to three people. "Follow deep space scavenger Ben Mitchell and his hapless assistant droid as they are drawn into a mystery at the heart of the universe," states the developer.

Meta is killing its Spark AR platform. Spark Studio, available for Windows and Mac, is the engine used to create smartphone AR effects and experiences for the camera in Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. It was launched in 2019. From January 14 Meta says Spark Studio will stop working, and all effects made with it will be unpublished from Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. 0:00 / 0:30 1× Leaked video from January, showing that Spark was once intended to be the engine for Quest Augments.

Orion Drift is a futuristic VR multiplayer sports game from the Gorilla Tag studio, and you can apply for closed early access testing on Quest. Developed by Another Axiom in Unreal Engine 5, Orion Drift wants to take a new approach to zero-gravity movement in a premise reminiscent of Echo VR. It uses Gorilla Tag's arm-swinging locomotion while using minimal controller inputs, only letting you grab items that can be gripped.
