Varjo, the high-end XR headset creator, today announced the release of a new smartphone-based 3D scanning service for enterprise that promises to let users quickly build photorealistic environments and explore them in both VR and on traditional screens. Called Teleport , the paid app allows users to capture and recreate real-world locations, something the Finland-based company says takes just 5–10 minutes, which is notably faster than traditional photogrammetry methods.

PICO has announced support for OpenXR 1.1, which Khronos Groups believes can reduce fragmentation and simplify advanced XR application development. Khronos Group is a non-profit consortium powering royalty-free interoperability for VR, AR, ML, 3D graphics, and other technologies. Open XR 1.1 has already been made available on PICO 4 Ultra with OS 5.12.0.

Hellsweeper VR is expanding co-op support to three players, and it's kicking off a two week playtest on Quest and Steam. While a two-player co-op mode has been available since launch with cross-platform support, Hellsweeper VR is now expanding this to support three players at once. Mixed Realms announced it's hosting a playtest with a focus on improving “stability and performance” for the multiplayer mode, which will run on Steam, Quest 2 and the Quest 3 family from November 25 to December 9.

A physical edition of Kayak VR: Mirage for PlayStation VR2 is now available to pre-order. Following this year's Soča Valley DLC and the real-time multiplayer update for Kayak VR: Mirage , Limited Run Games is now releasing a physical edition for PlayStation VR2. No additional extras are mentioned beyond having the game on a disc, and that's estimated to ship during May 2025.

Starship Troopers: Continuum was supposed to reach PlayStation VR2 today. Instead, it's been delayed and the store listing has been removed. We've known since its reveal that Starship Troopers: Continuum would receive a staggered launch between platforms. Following its Quest release earlier this month, the PS VR2 version was due to follow on November 25.

For $30/month, Varjo Teleport lets you capture real world scenes with your iPhone to view volumetrically in PC VR. Like Meta's Horizon Hyperscape Demo and Gracia , Varjo Teleport uses Gaussian splatting, leveraging advances in machine learning to "train" the output based on image views of the scene. Meta also eventually plans to allow you to scan Hyperscape scenes with your phone, but Varjo is shipping this feature first.
