In an effort to boost engagement, Ramen VR , developers behind VR-exclusive MMORPG Zenith: The Last City (2022), announced the game will soon feature a free-to-play mode and premium in-game currency as it rebrands to Zenith: Nexus. Nexus is set to host access to content from both The Last City as well as a newly announced free-to-play section, called Infinite Realms.

This week, schools across North Dakota are receiving over 300 HTC VIVE VR headsets in a statewide initiative spearheaded by CareerViewXR, an emerging immersive edtech startup. In partnership with the trusted headset vendor, the distribution plan also sees CareerViewXR’s first-party immersive learning platform integrated into the headset, ready for deployment.

Apple doesn’t call Vision Pro a mixed reality headset, or a virtual reality headset for that matter. To Apple, it’s all spatial computing , which is fine—if not a little too vague. Since it doesn’t support dedicated controllers like all VR headsets out there though, it’s leaving many developers essentially stuck and unable to port many of the most popular immersive games to Vision Pro.

Quest 3 was the third most used VR headset on Steam in January, surpassing Oculus Rift S and almost catching up to Valve Index. The data comes from the Steam Hardware & Software Survey. It's offered to a random sample of Steam’s user base each month. If you accept, it uploads a list of your PC specs and peripherals to Valve, as well as any headset used on SteamVR in the past month.

We knew Apple planned to give in-store demos of Vision Pro, but initially the company said you could online get in line by going to an Apple store. And that continues to be the case for demos over this weekend. But if you want to demo Vision Pro on February 5th and beyond, you can reserve a slot online.

During the Ruff Talk VR 2024 Showcase today, Schell Games revealed an extended gameplay trailer for its upcoming VR puzzle Silent Slayer: Vault of the Vampire, showing off more of the vampire-ganking action that pits you against a host of temperamental traps. As part of their quarterly earnings call this week, AMD re-emphasized that its Zen 5-architecture processors for both client and datacenter applications will be available this year. While the company is not making any new disclosured on products or providing a timeline beyond "later this year", the latest statement from AMD serves as a reiteration of AMD's plans, and confirmation that those plans are still on schedule.

If you can’t get to an Apple Store with available Vision Pro appointments, or you just don’t want to, here’s what the whole experience was like on the VR headset’s release day February 2, 2024, at the 5th Avenue Apple Store in New York. The glow of a VR headset calls from the corner of 59th Street and 5th Avenue in New York City. Strolling inside the Apple Store and descending the staircase, roughly half the store seems dedicated to Apple Vision Pro information and demos.

Earlier this week, we published our review of AMD's latest Zen 4 based APUs, the Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G. Apple Vision Pro has officially launched in the US. In-store pickups are happening right now and deliveries are arriving. Vision Pro is exclusively available from Apple's US web store and physical Apple Stores in the US. The $3500 base model has 256GB of storage. A 512GB storage model is available for $3700, while 1TB is priced at $3900. Apple previously said Vision Pro will come to other countries "later" in 2024, but hasn't yet confirmed which countries this will include.

Puzzling Places marks the latest Apple Vision Pro launch game, available today as a free download. Similar to Synth Riders , Realities.io confirms that Puzzling Places , a meditative 3D jigsaw puzzle game, was redesigned from the ground up on Apple Vision Pro to use its eye and hand-tracking interface. Launching as a “volume” VisionOS app, the studio states this makes it easier to put Puzzling Places alongside other apps in your Shared Space.
