Some days ago, Mark Zuckerberg made a video specifically to say that the Quest 3 is better than the Vision Pro. It’s been literally my highlight of the week: Zuck trying to make an objective review and concluding that his own product is better… literally makes no sense. It’s like me making a video tomorrow and saying that our social VR space VRROOM is better than Horizon Worlds because, well, it’s my product… and also because we have legs.
Vision Pro's killer apps will be developed and determined in time. But there are already signs that it could revolutionize productivity. We examine the evidence. This post appeared first on AR Insider.
The developer leading the push to make PSVR 2 compatible with PC VR games says they’re working on a SteamVR driver that aims to bring unofficial SteamVR support to Vision Pro, controllers and all. You may have heard earlier this week that independent programmer Zhuowei Zhang had installed a modified version of Wi-Fi PC streaming app ALVR on Vision Pro, which gave users the first look at SteamVR compatibility.

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.
The total land area on OpenSim’s public grids reached the equivalent of 131,880 standard regions this month, an all-time high, with an increase of 369 standard regions compared to last month. Meanwhile, the total number of registered users went up by more than 2,100 and the number of active users rose by over 2,200. I’m now tracking a total of 2,653 public grids, of which 316 were active, and 251 published their statistics this month.

In this crazy rollercoaster that is life, a new week has started, and it is so time for me to write my roundup of the best news of the week. Since we are still in the hype phase for the Vision Pro, this roundup will still be centered a lot on Apple’s device, simply because almost all the VR magazine articles, the Tweets, and whatever people in XR are saying, at this moment is always about the Vision Pro.
Meta famously doesn’t provide VR unit sales figures, which leaves us to extrapolate various clues. Developer Davien Bigelow just stumbled on a big clue which guest author Mat Pawluczuk breaks down for us. This post appeared first on AR Insider.
Over the last three weeks I’ve had the chance to spend significant time in Apple Vision Pro. While my full review is still marinating, I want to share some early thoughts I’ve had while using the headset and what it means overall for the XR industry. It has to be said that anyone who doesn’t recognize how consequential the launch of Vision Pro is fundamentally doesn’t understand the XR industry.
Continuing the large wave of announcements and highlights from the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 conference in Barcelona, Spain, HTC VIVE also introduced new enterprise immersive services for its XR Elite Bussiness Edition product. The new business features from HTC VIVE include a revamped VIVERSE platform ready for productivity and remote collaboration use cases, with new AI assistant features.
With a rapidly changing economy, Avangrid Renewables looked to virtual reality to develop a standardized form of immersive training in order to onboard and upskill technicians faster than ever before.
Maria Korolov at the Apple store in Holyoke, Massachusetts. This past weekend, I went to the local Apple store and got a demo of the new Apple Vision Pro headset — the one where you’ll spend a minimum of $3,500 and more likely $4,000 if you buy it. A few years ago, I traded my iPhone for an Android because Samsung released the Gear VR headset and Apple didn’t have anything similar in the pipeline.
Glad to have you here again. For whatever reason you may be reading this article, I wish you a lot of happiness. And now let’s dig into the most relevant pieces of XR news of the week! Top news of the week (Image by Apple) Many people are analyzing the Apple Vision Pro… including the ones at Meta Here you are with the usual huge roundup of news about the Apple Vision Pro (a roundup in a roundup).

With 191 country signatories to the Paris Climate Agreement now hard at work in the race to zero carbon by 2050, much of the heavy lifting in ecosystem sustainability falls on the shoulders of the world's densely populated urban centers. This conversation considers how today's AI-enabled simulation media, such as AR/VR, can be effectively applied to accelerate learning, understanding, training, and solutions-modeling to sustainability planning and design.
Today, on the one year anniversary of the release of PSVR 2, Sony announced it’s testing PC VR compatibility for PSVR 2, with plans to release some form of PC support for the headset this year. In a blog post commemorating the one year anniversary of PSVR 2 , Sony highlighted upcoming content soon to launch on the headset. But hidden away in that post was a statement we weren’t expecting: “Also, we’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PSVR 2 players

In partnership with the trusted headset vendor, the distribution plan also sees CareerViewXR’s first-party immersive learning platform integrated into the headset, ready for deployment.
Apple Vision Pro. (Image courtesy Apple.) I recently read a CNN article on Tim Cook and the risk he’s taking with Apple Vision Pro. The gist of it is this: The Vision Pro will be Apple’s riskiest launch in years and could end up being the product that defines Tim Cook’s legacy. What struck me is the point of view. The main concern is the fate of one person, Tim Cook.
Remote meetings are here to stay - and many are BORING. If you are trying to engage your learners (or any audience), compelling content is critical. But trying to create stimulating content with the same tools you’ve always had is hard, right? Thankfully, wrong! Terrific tools in PowerPoint along with visual assets help you create the kind of dynamic content you need to capture your remote audience’s attention, with functions that allow for interactive sequences and navigation.
The hype for the Apple Pro is starting to deflate and it is possible to see that from some cues: for instance, there are more critics of the headset and fewer articles are talking about it. It’s still the gadget of the moment, but a bit less shiny than before. Honestly, I’m glad about that, I was getting bored from reading only articles about it. Before getting into the interesting XR news of the week, I invite you all to attend the new Awe Nite that Cecilia Lascialfari and I are organizing for
AR has transformed several aspects of consumer tech. But the barriers to entry are sometimes onerous and the path to market isn't always easy. How much should businesses expect to spend? This post appeared first on AR Insider.
Sony says it’s bringing some form of PC VR support to PSVR 2 at some point this year, although it’s not clear when, or even how the company will go about letting users play games like Half-Life: Alyx (2020) or popular social VR platforms equally missing from the headset’s game catalogue. But some won’t have to wait: iVRy , an unofficial project dedicated to the task, is bringing it long-awaited SteamVR driver to PSVR 2 sometime next month.

Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?
A South Korean news outlet reports that the next Quest Pro, made in partnership with LG, will ship early next year. The Korea Economic Daily cites "industry sources" as saying that Mark Zuckerberg will meet with the CEO of LG Electronics on Wednesday to finalize the details of the partnership. This will be Zuckerberg's publicly-known trip to South Korea since 2014, when he visited Samsung to finalise the Gear VR smartphone headset partnership.
The Apple Vision Pro is the device of the moment: since the preorders have been opened on January, 19th, my social media feed is full of posts that just talk about this device. And this is for a good reason: Apple entering the field is for sure a defining moment for the immersive reality space. One of the things that are talked about the most about the Vision Pro is the fact that it features no controllers and the interface works only with the eyes and the hands.
