Back at CES we met a small creative studio with some big technical plans for the HTC Vive’s upcoming Tracker peripheral. The team’s name was Master of Shapes , and they were one of the groups that HTC had gathered to showcase some of the many applications for the new device. Specifically, they made a technical demonstration for makeshift local multiplayer VR, called Cover Me.

Now that Vrui is working on the HTC Vive (at least until the next SteamVR update breaks ABI again), I can finally go back and give Vrui-based applications some tender loving care. First up is 3D Visualizer , an application to visualize and, more importantly, visually analyze three-dimensional volumetric data sets (see Figure 1). The 8th Annual Lumiere Awards were held last night at Warner Bros. Studios in Hollywood. The Gear VR powered coasters include complex gameplay and use of the passthrough camera. When Six Flags first joined forces with Samsung last Spring to include Gear VR headsets on rides at theme parks across the country, it was unclear how first-time VR users would react.
