To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.
Facebook Connect 2 has finished and almost nothing went as I predicted (I suck at making predictions for Connects, it seems): there was no Quest 2 Pro, no discount on the Quest 2, no update on Assassin’s Creed VR. But one thing actually went as expected : Facebook announced the creation of a parent company called Meta , which is going to control all products Facebook was involved in.

The metaverse is as vague as it is promising. But Facebook (ahem, Meta) has done a relatively decent job conveying its vision (and underwriting the whole thing). We dive into the Meta Connect keynote for this week's XR Talks. The post XR Talks: Breaking Down the Meta Keynote appeared first on AR Insider.
Meta ( formerly Facebook ) created quite a stir in the VR industry when it announced last year that it planned to require Facebook account logins for new users. The move didn’t go over well in the VR space or among critics at large. This week the company said it plans to roll-out a non-Facebook option for logging into its headsets starting next year.
Every year I make this prediction game about what Facebook is going to announce at Oculus/Facebook connect, and this year won’t be an exception! So here you are what I expect to be announced on Thursday … but before reading, remember that I have no inside info about what is going to happen, and it is all speculation! Some years ago I predicted that “Facebook will never release a cable to connect the Quest to the PC because that would kill the Rift”… well, you can se

This great October in VR has not finished yet, and we have still to hear the big news from Facebook in a few days. In the meantime, I got pretty sick after my journey to Switzerland to try CREAL headsets, and it’s taking a while to recover… I can’t wait to become a cyborg so that I don’t have to have to deal with the weaknesses of my meaty body… plus I guess I would be pretty cool if I also got the body of Schwarzenegger in Terminator… and its augmented reality vision, of course.

Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?
