Varjo, the high-end XR headset creator, today announced the release of a new smartphone-based 3D scanning service for enterprise that promises to let users quickly build photorealistic environments and explore them in both VR and on traditional screens. Called Teleport , the paid app allows users to capture and recreate real-world locations, something the Finland-based company says takes just 5–10 minutes, which is notably faster than traditional photogrammetry methods.

Models of Valve Deckard's 'Roy' controllers have been discovered in SteamVR driver files, revealing their design and inputs. Code references to Valve 'Roy' controllers were first discovered earlier this month by XR enthusiast Brad Lynch's Discord group of SteamVR dataminers. This code revealed that the controllers would include bumpers and a D-pad to be able to act as a gamepad for flatscreen gaming.

The full Halo: Combat Evolved campaign is now playable via PC VR. Available to download via GitHub , this Halo: Combat Evolved VR mod lets you experience the entire campaign with full 6DOF motion controls, a two-handed aiming mode for weapons, rebindable controllers, and more. Compatible with the original 2003 PC release, it requires using SteamVR and you can see this demonstrated in LunchAndVR's video below.

Today, MR and VR headset vendor Varjo debuted the general availability of Teleport, a spatial capture software that turns objects, spaces, and individuals into 3D digital twins for simulation and other workplace use cases such as design procedures, remote inspections, construction workflows, and training. The project aims to improve and optimise photogrammetry workflows, therefore allowing companies to optimise digitisation of real-world work assets.

Devs United Games, the studio behind Quest exclusive Real VR Fishing , announced they’re finally bringing the popular VR fishing game to PC VR headsets next month. Coming to SteamVR headsets in early December, Real VR Fishing is set to follow the same pricing policy and gameplay as the Quest version, making all DLCs—US West Coast DLC, US East Coast DLC, Japan DLC Part 1 and 2—available on Steam at launch.

Meta's Quest SDKs now enable placing virtual objects on surfaces without a scene scan, showing a passthrough cutout of any keyboard, and discovering nearby headsets for colocation via Bluetooth. Instant Placement and Keyboard Tracking are available in v71 of Meta's Mixed Reality Utility Kit (MRUK), and Colocation Discovery is available in v71 of the Meta XR Core SDK.
