A dedicated Wi-Fi 6 dongle would greatly improve your wireless VR experience. A software engineer going by ItsKaitlyn03 on Twitter was digging through Meta’s Oculus PC driver and stumbled across an interesting line of code for a device called “VR Air Bridge.” According to the code provided, the mysterious device could be used to wirelessly tether your Quest headset to your PC through a dedicated Wi-Fi 6 network.
YouTuber SadlyItsBradley claims to have seen actual photos of the production model of Meta’s next-gen mixed reality headset, Project Cambria. Bring real objects into the metaverse using this easy-to-use app. Earlier this week Epic Games launched a limited beta for its new 3D scanning app RealityScan. Using a standard smartphone device, users can easily scan and digitize real-world objects to use in their virtual objects. Similar to RealityCapture, Epic’s 3D photogrammetry software for Windows, RealityScan can be used to easily create hyper-realistic 3D models, minus the need for a beefy PC.

That same month the company open-sourced the software, allowing other developers to add their own unique features and customizations to the existing app.
DigiLens, a maker of waveguide optics for AR glasses, today announced a second close of its Series D funding round, claiming a $530 million valuation. DigiLens is one of several companies building waveguide optics and positioning them for use in XR. Waveguides allow for extremely compact near-eye optics which are no thicker than the lenses on a pair of glasses.
