During Sony’s annual investor day event, the company confirmed to investors that it has a lineup of more than 20 games ready for the launch of PSVR 2—despite having not yet confirmed the headset’s release date. Sony’s 2022 Investor Day presentation gives investors in the company an overview of recent performance and future strategic outlook at the company’s core business segments which include PlayStation, Sony Music, and Sony Pictures.

Lynx, the French XR hardware startup known for crowdfunding the Lynx R-1 mixed reality headset , today announced it’s secured $4 million in its Series A round, led by social VR platform Somnium Space. Alongside Somnium Space , participants in the latest funding round also include what Lynx calls early supporters of the company and “other investors involved in the AR/VR field such as ex-Meta and Google engineers.” This brings the company’s total outside funding to $6.8 mi
Tokyo, Japan is just the latest major city to receive official support for AR walking guidance. It was back in 2021 that Apple first introduced AR (augmented reality) navigation to its Apple Maps app, allowing iOS users to navigate their real-world environment using virtual overlays. Similar to Google Maps’ Live View , users can use their smartphone’s camera to follow a series of virtual arrows leading to their desired location without having to take their eyes off the street.

This week Niantic announced Lightship VPS, a system designed to make possible accurate localization of AR devices at a large scale to enable location-based AR content that can also be persistent and multi-user. While the first implementation of the system will need to be baked into individual apps, the company says it’s bringing the tech to WebAR too.
