In the last weeks, I’ve been able to speak with two Valve employees who revealed to me some important details about the upcoming standalone headset by Valve, codenamed Deckard. These employees spoke under the promise of anonymity (you can imagine why) and were able to tell me juicy details about the development of the headset. To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.

A few days ago I posted this video on my social media channels where I poured some biscuits from a real-world biscuit box into my VR kitchen to have some breakfast: So tasty… The video got some interest from the community and some people asked me how I did it. Since I’m always favorable about sharing knowledge, let me tell you the secrets behind this application, so that you can do your augmented virtuality application for your Quest, too!

Mixed Reality (MR) headsets are surging into the spotlight, attracting customers and business leaders alike. In the past, creating a true “mixed reality” experience was complex, meaning virtual reality devices and smart glasses consumed a larger portion of the XR market. However, countless vendors, from Microsoft to Meta, Varjo, and even Apple, have shown just how valuable mixed reality solutions can be.
With a rapidly changing economy, Avangrid Renewables looked to virtual reality to develop a standardized form of immersive training in order to onboard and upskill technicians faster than ever before.
After an eight hour flight, I can say that Apple has largely nailed the Vision Pro use-case of movie watching on a plane. But a few key improvements stand to make it more widely appealing. Nobody looks forward to an eight hour flight. Whether it’s sleeping or reading or working, people want a way to pass the time and distract themselves from the noisy cabin, turbulence, and the general feeling of being packed into a metal tube like sardines.
This week on Reality Bytes, we clone our voice with OpenAI, test out advertising on Discord, and get spatial with the MLB on Apple Vision Pro. This post appeared first on AR Insider.

Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?
Netflix is selling the headset featured in its latest TV series 3 Body Problem, which heavily features characters accessing a shared virtual reality. Unfortunately, it’s just a prop—but it’s actually pretty cool as far as nonfunctional collectibles go.
