Infinite Reality, a company building an engine for creating immersive web content underpinned with WebXR support, announced it has raised a whopping $3 billion to continue building the company’s “vision for the next generation of the internet.” Not only is this a huge fundraising round, such an investment coming from a single private investor is highly uncommon.
With Samsung's project Moohan, Android XR will enter the spatial computing competitive field. What will this mean for the sector and how will Google stack up to Apple, Meta and others? This post appeared first on AR Insider.
A judge in Florida used a Quest 2 VR headset to view a recreation of events in which a defendant pulled a gun out at a wedding. Miami news outlet WPLG Local 10 reports that the VR headsets were brought into the courtroom during a stand-your-ground hearing last week. The defense team in the case commissioned an artist to make an animation depicting events meant to represent the defendant's perspective, with a segment of the animation formatted for VR headsets and viewed in the courtroom.

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.
Today I want to tell you about two companies that I met at CES that made me think about the future of immersive realities: Attention Labs , which lets people focus on a specific conversation in mixed reality, and 2Pi Optics , which builds very small metalenses. Let me tell you why I think these two companies are working on something that is very cool.
Stress Level Zero’s physics-based sandbox follow-up BONELAB (2022) has done spectacularly well on Quest, although the studio still hasn’t brought its award-winning physics action puzzler BONEWORKS (2019) to Meta’s latest standalone hardware generation. That’s about to change. If you haven’t played on PC VR headset, Boneworks is a narrative VR action-adventure using advanced experimental physics mechanics.

Like millions of kids in the 1990s, my first experience with puzzle-adventure games was Myst. The jaw-dropping graphics and cryptic storytelling lit my imagination, but my young age, the extreme obtuseness of the game's puzzles, and the gameplay's intense loneliness squelched that flame. Thirty years later, as I reach the halfway point of Epyka, I suddenly realize I'm playing the game I always wanted Myst to be.
Today at CES I have been able to go hands-on with two Pimax products: the Pimax Crystal Super and the 60G Airlink for wireless connection. Unluckily there was no Dream Air to try, but I had fun anyway with the two other products. Before describing my experience, take in mind that CES has been very frenetic so my hands on these two devices lasted only a few minutes , not enough for an exhaustive review.
Wait, Apple Vision Pro doesn’t come in black, does it? Nope, but Play For Dream MR does. And with what some are calling the ‘Android Vision Pro’, owing to its Android-based OS, Play For Dream seems to have turned some heads at CES 2025 this past week. Initially launched in Asia last year, China-based headset creator Play For Dream had its sights on bringing the heavily Vision Pro-inspired mixed reality headset to the West.
With a rapidly changing economy, Avangrid Renewables looked to virtual reality to develop a standardized form of immersive training in order to onboard and upskill technicians faster than ever before.

Quest Pro is no longer available to buy from Meta, though stock is still available at some retailers. Meta announced the retirement of both Quest 2 and Quest Pro at its Connect conference back in September, saying that the two headsets will no longer be available when stock runs out or at the end of the year, whichever comes first. For Quest 2, stock ran out within a few weeks of Connect.
Hello everyone! This is the first article directly from CES of my life. Yesterday it was the second press day before the big opening of the event, and the only big company explicitly talking about VR in its keynote was Sony that announced the XYN headset. Let me tell you about that announcement, and let me tell you about the hands-on I had … not directly with the XYN headset, but with its sibling model!
Somnium Space , the Prague, Czechia-based social platform creator, has officially begun launching its PC VR headset, Somnium VR1, in the US. Additionally, the company announced its streamlining the number of available variants, bringing it to just three consumer-focused versions, and also increasing prices soon on its higher-end units. The company says it’s now discontinuing a number of previously offered configurations of Somnium VR1, including Striker Edition, Classic Edition, Specter Ed

The director of the film Wicked used an Apple Vision Pro to view and give feedback on drafts as part of the editing process on a giant virtual screen. 0:00 / 1:08 1 Jon M. Chu said he used the app Evercast to coordinate with his editor and the global team of visual effects artists, viewing drafts on a virtual screen the size of a cinema screen from the comfort of his own home, and adding notes by drawing with his finger.

Pirates VR: Jolly Roger presents an enjoyable lighthearted VR adventure, though shallow combat ultimately hampers it. Read on for our full review. The cultural impact of Robert Louis Stevenson's landmark 19th century novel cannot be overstated. Historical tales like The Pirate Queen show there's room for more serious stories, yet Treasure Island's depiction of swashbuckling pirates searching for treasure remains more prevalent with VR games like Sail , Furious Seas , and Battlewake.
This week, at CES 2025, NVIDIA took centre stage to showcase its latest innovations in emerging technology. Namely, NVIDIA showed off its robotics and AI investments. Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?
In all the excitement around mixed reality and AI smart glasses, we often forget about XR's most scalable format today: Mobile AR. How does the sub-sector fare as we enter 2025? This post appeared first on AR Insider.

If youre looking for the Best Earbuds for Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets, youre not alone. I personally think the speakers built into the Meta Quest 3 v (and 3S) headsets are pretty decent theyre definitely a lot better than those on the Quest 2, for instance but theyre not ideal. Investing in a pair of earbuds, or even wired headphones for the Quest 3 is the best way to upgrade your audio experience (and enjoy a little more privacy).
