Valve unveiled its Steam Deck OLED late last week, offering up a hardware refresh for the first time since the company launched the handheld gaming device last year. While the company has been full steam ahead on handhelds and developing Steam OS, Valve says it’s “still pushing forward” on VR. Valve ostensibly has a standalone VR headset in the works , and although there wasn’t any big announcement (or acknowledgement) of what the company has in store just yet.

Compared to last month, the number of active users is up by over 1,700. The total land area is down, however, by the equivalent of 5,395 standard regions. Land area would have increased this month except for the fact that OSgrid, the largest grid in OpenSim, lost 6,684 regions.

It’s pretty unlikely we’ll see any deals this year on Meta’s latest and greatest VR standalone, Quest 3. Before the holiday season kicks into gear though, the company is dropping the price of Quest 2 to just $250. Both variants are on sale from now until December 31st, dropping the 128GB version from $300 to $250, and the 256GB version from $350 to $300.
Immersed says Visor will now have a standalone mode, and it increased the price to $950. What Is Visor? Visor was announced in August as an ultra-compact productivity headset with OLED microdisplays, inside-out tracking, HD color passthrough, hand tracking, and eye tracking set to release in 2024 with support for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Immersed says it has a tethered battery pack but can support support a wireless monitor streaming mode, and has integrated inside-out tracking.
