To bring the experience to life, QValem developed his own virtual race track and layered it over the real world. In a Reddit post shared earlier this week, a developer going by the name of u/QValem showed off an experimental VR game for the Meta Quest 2 that has players navigating a virtual racetrack using an actual bicycle. In the video provided, we see the developer riding a standard bicycle around a conventional race track while wearing a Quest 2 VR headset.

The Quest 2 is a great gaming machine offered at a ridiculous price, and it has totally crushed the competition. It is the first headset that has (most probably) crossed the 10M sold units, and alone it accounts for more than 50% of VR users on Steam… without even being a native PCVR device.

In an effort to help PC VR developers bring their content to Quest 2, Meta has ported Showdown , an old UE4 VR graphics showcase, to the headset as a case study in optimization best practices. Showdown is a UE4 PC VR demo originally made by Epic Games back in 2014 to show off high-fidelity VR graphics running at 90Hz on a GTX 980 GPU at a 1,080 × 1,200 (1.3MP) per-eye resolution.

The AirRes Mask can be used to simulate a variety of stressful and high-risk scenarios. A research team working out of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences in Austria has developed a unique accessory for the Meta Quest 2 VR headset that allows users to interact with the virtual world by simply breathing. The bizarre-looking peripheral can also be used to hinder the user’s breathing in order to simulate “adverse” environmental conditions, such as smoke caused by fire.
