When we embarked on this journey , there were many things we didn’t know. What does hand tracking need to be like for an augmented reality headset? How fast does it need to be; do we need a hundred frames per second tracking or a thousand frames per second? How does the field of view impact the interaction paradigm? How do we interact with things when we only have the central field, or a wider field?
How a group of high school students used VR to bring their coursework to life. The most exciting possibility that Immersive Technologies bring are to accelerate and supplement learning in ways that simply haven’t been possible, practical, or scalable before. Students are now able to showcase their imagination, creativity and content mastery in new ways, allowing teachers to recognize the extent of their understanding, and classmates to learn in an intensely immersive experience.
KatVR, the China-based company behind the 2015 Kickstarter-funded KAT Walk VR treadmill, announced last month that a new mini-version of the low-friction VR treadmill would be hitting Kickstarter soon, and that above all it would be “affordable.” Today the company published pre-order prices on the Kat VR website , and it’s unfortunately a bitter pill to swallow: with the lowest early bird discount of 50%, the minimum price is $1500.
The German waterpark lets riders strap on a waterproof VR headset. From VR roller coaster rides at Sea World to shooting yourself out of a cannon , we’ve seen a range of exhilarating ways VR can bring theme park rides into the future. Now one startup is taking water slides to the next level with submersible VR headsets. Ballast , a Silicon Valley startup focused on aquatic-based VR experiences, has installed a VR Slide system at Galaxy Erding, Europe’s largest indoor and outdoor water park.

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.

Now that the info is public, I can finally tell you his wonderful story.

Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?

Leap Motion is a company that has always been focused on human-computer interfaces. The fundamental limit in technology is not its size or its cost or its speed, but how we interact with it. Click To Tweet We believe that the fundamental limit in technology is not its size or its cost or its speed, but how we interact with it. These interactions define what we create, how we learn, how we communicate with each other.
