Biometric algorithms enable your body to speak through immersive technology. Is this the next phase of human-machine integration? “It’s pretty common knowledge that body language plays a big role in how we communicate in real-life, and the fact is that behavioral studies have been validating the correlation between the body and mind for decades.” explains Amir Bozorgzadeh, Cofounder and CEO at Virtuleap.
Microsoft today revealed HoloLens 2 at MWC 2019 in Barcelona. The headset features a laser-scanning display which brings a field of view that’s more than 2x the original HoloLens and 47 pixels per degree. HoloLens visionary Alex Kipman took to the stage in Barcelona to introduce HoloLens 2 which addresses many of the key criticisms of the original headset: field of view, comfort, and hand-tracking.
You all know that I am a big fan of the Kinect. My story in the virtual reality ecosystem is deeply interwoven to the presence of this sensor , since I entered the VR field in 2014 with a startup on full body virtual reality (called Immotionar ) that was able to offer the user its full body in VR thanks to the mixing of an array of Kinects and a VR headset.

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.
This app helps you make up your mind with ultra-realistic Augmented Reality menus. Part of the experience of going to a good restaurant is being presented with lots of tempting choices. When faced with page upon page of delicious and intriguing descriptions, some of us fall back on trusty favourites (my husband will order a steak nine times out of ten) while others enjoy trying new things.
Kellogg’s see’s 18% bump in sales through VR marketing research. The next time you’re shopping looking at items neatly stacked on shelves in every aisle – some high, some low, some with promotional signage – take note that where supermarket employees place these products isn’t random. There is actually quite a bit of research and science that goes into the process of deciding where to place your favorite snacks on the supermarket shelves for maximum exposure.

LetinAR, a Korea-based startup developing optical solutions for AR headsets and smartglasses, showed off a new implementation of their ‘pin mirror’ optical tech at Mobile World Congress (MWC) this week, bringing a sharp image quality, a large range of focal depth, and a field of view (FOV) that rivals many of the bigger players who instead use waveguide-based optics.
Today, at MWC 2019, Alex Kipman went on stage together with Satya Nadella and Julia White to announce the new HoloLens 2. They teased a lot of interesting features and services of the device, and left the remaining technical details to some technical sheets on Microsoft website. So, let’s see what we know regarding the headset! FOV. First things first: we were all curious about the field of view of the new HoloLens.
This Augmented Reality smart motorcycle helmet is as cool as it sounds, and looks good in the bargain. Having real-time, hands-free digital information and applications overlaid onto our surroundings is the next step from looking up information on mobile phones and interacting with AI voice assistants Click To Tweet. It’s really a stroke of genius when you stop and think about it.
The company is taking a “quality-first” approach in regards to their standalone headset. As we grow closer to the release of the Oculus Quest, creators are already underway developing a new helping of games and experiences capable of harnessing the standalone devices 6DoF capabilities and inside-out tracking. HTC announced a new product out of left field here at Mobile World Congress (MWC) this week, the 5G Hub mobile hotspot that includes a media streaming device, a digital assistant, and Internet access point for up to 20 concurrent devices. HTC’s growing focus on virtual reality has also led it to include what the company says will be one of the first devices to deliver on the promise of cloud-based app rendering for VR headsets.
Ten days after Magic Leap declared that it had selected the winners of its Independent Creators Program, the company has officially released an almost full list of grant recipients. For its first round of grants, the company filtered its submission pool of more than 6,500 applicants down to at least 31 recipients in a blog post published on Thursday, though some winners have opted to "remain in stealth" and reveal their projects on their own timeline.
We talk to the first developers to join Microsoft’s HoloLens partner program about what the future of Mixed Reality looks like. Object Theory are pretty much the oldest Mixed Reality company around, having launched in June 2015, before the HoloLens had even started shipping. In many ways they’re your typical tech company – my demos are delivered in the familiar blueprint of a trendy open-plan office with exposed brick walls, which sits above a sushi restaurant – but it’s got a different vibe fro

With 191 country signatories to the Paris Climate Agreement now hard at work in the race to zero carbon by 2050, much of the heavy lifting in ecosystem sustainability falls on the shoulders of the world's densely populated urban centers. This conversation considers how today's AI-enabled simulation media, such as AR/VR, can be effectively applied to accelerate learning, understanding, training, and solutions-modeling to sustainability planning and design.
To significant anticipation, Microsoft revealed HoloLens 2 earlier this week at MWC 2019. By all accounts it looks like a beautiful and functional piece of technology and a big step forward for Microsoft’s AR initiative. All of which makes it unfortunate that the company didn’t strive to be clearer when illustrating one of the three key areas in which the headset is said to be improved over its predecessor.
As Magic Leap continues to spread its influence in the US with the help of wireless carrier AT&T, the augmented reality startup is also working its way into East Asia. Remote meetings are here to stay - and many are BORING. If you are trying to engage your learners (or any audience), compelling content is critical. But trying to create stimulating content with the same tools you’ve always had is hard, right? Thankfully, wrong! Terrific tools in PowerPoint along with visual assets help you create the kind of dynamic content you need to capture your remote audience’s attention, with functions that allow for interactive sequences and navigation.
Oculus has always taken a curated approach to VR content, being the first and last word on what VR content can and can’t be offered through their platform. But now the company plans to further tighten its grip on Quest content by imposing a higher quality bar, the company says, to ensure that the headset offers customers rich experiences while raising the likelihood of developers success (for those allowed in).
In the last couple of days there's been a lot of speculation about the powers of Microsoft's HoloLens 2, but few have had a chance to get their hands on one to see if the company's claims live up to what HoloLens inventor Alex Kipman showed off on stage. Nevertheless, amid this week's massive crowds and tech brand noise of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, I managed to secure some alone time with the device in a private room to put it through its paces.
Talespin combines AI with VR to educate users on proper leadership & communication skills. Yesterday, enterprise XR developer Talespin introduced a new training tool that utilizes an AI-powered virtual human to teach users “soft skills” — attributes that allow for effective communication and interaction between others — through realistic workplace scenarios.
Speaker: Treion Muller, Chief Strategy Officer at ELB Learning
Since when has learning and development (L&D) become such a negative experience with its intended learners? Could it be because learners have been conditioned by very poor learning experiences over the past two decades, combined with the kinks of technological innovation? Or is it because learning has typically been designed as a one-size-fits-all solution, despite the fact that humans are not clones?
Announced just last week, Vive Focus Plus is HTC’s next iteration of their standalone VR headset that adds a pretty big missing puzzle piece, namely a replacement for its predecessor’s single 3DOF controller (rotation only) for the new 6DOF controllers. But that’s not exactly all there is to Vive Focus Plus. We’ve seen Vive Focus using 6DOF controllers a few times before the new version’s public debut at MWC 2019—it was only last month at CES that the company’
